Birmingham – ‘The most entrepreneurial city outside London’
Tamlyn Jones at The Birmingham Mail published an article on January 17th 2017 following her research of data released by StartUp Britain.
This information is based on analysis of Companies House filings & shows that 17,473 new businesses were registered in Birmingham during 2016.
This is an increase of 25 per cent on the previous year and more than any other city outside the capital.
Birmingham has also surpassed London to become the country’s leading city for business growth rates in 2016, according to the Office of National Statistics’ business counts data.
What does Rachel at Epic Investments make of this?
This is great news for Birmingham. The Office for National Statistics also released data at the end of 2016 highlighting Birmingham as the youngest major city in Europe, our vibrant, young workforce are not only moving to take up employed positions but they’re also taking advantage of access to finance & mentoring schemes that fuels a culture of innovation in the city.
Birmingham is definitely an exciting place to be right now, even if our brummie accents are still the biggest talking point!! When in New Zealand I met a guy from Equador who asked where I was from & mimicked a brummie accent perfectly!!! With marketing Birmingham promoting our city around the world maybe we’ll soon be famous for more than our accents!!
